This week was kind of a curveball. When I quit my full time job back in July, I asked to be part of a temp pool they use for secretaries on an on-call basis. Monday night I got called to work this week! It took some shuffling around to get it to work out (thanks Kim and Suzi!!!) but Tuesday morning I was back at the office.
The best part about working this week is I got to spend time in downtown Salt Lake. I loooove the city. I'm definitely a city girl at heart.
So today was a particularly fine spring day and I spent my lunch hour walking around the city (also to walk off my Red Iguana enchiladas...mmm...). A huge new development area (City Creek) is opening next week with amazing shopping and restaurants and I can not wait! Salt Lake was pretty much dying for something like this. Ok, maybe I was pretty much dying for something like this.
I walked a few blocks to get my ring cleaned and admired the in-progress windows of H&M, Nordstrom, Macy's and Forever 21. I'm giddy with retail infatuation!
It was so much fun to be back at work, spend time in the city, see old friends and be part of a professional environment again. I also kind of miss those paychecks... But it was really hard to leave Avery every morning and by the time I got home at night, I had very little time with her before she was off to bed and I had more work to do (I still work from home too). I also do not miss commuting. Blech! I witnessed 2 freeway accidents (minor ones), got caught in major construction traffic, and developed killer shin muscles in my right leg from all the stop and go driving. So I guess what I'm saying is, I'm glad I got to work away from home this week but I'm really glad I don't do it every day.
